GRINDING
As a full-service machine shop, The Flinchbaugh Company, Inc. offers grinding services for various industries. ‘With machine shop experience dating back to 1936 and an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, our grinding services can deliver the reliable results you expect and deserve.
Flinchbaugh's surface grinding equipment produces an excellent finish and precision size control on flat surfaces made of hardened steel. Our Okamoto ACC124N grinder is equipped with an expansive 12-x 24-inch table for larger surface grinding projects.
HONING
Honing is the process of using a specialized machine equipped with hardened and sharpened blades that are rotated on a horizontal arbor to slowly remove material from a through-hole. Honing is used to control precision size, finish, and roundness not generally achievable by CNC Machining.
Our Sunnen honing machine uses oil for lubricity and cooling and is equipped with a variety of arbors and blades to handle a variety of needs. Custom arbors and blades can be fitted to achieve your specific part requirements.
VIBRATORY DEBURRING
Parts are vibratory deburred to smooth out imperfections, and remove small burrs and sharp edges. The process of vibratory deburring involves tumbling parts inside of a large container that is filled with deburring media. The container is vibrated while the parts tumble around inside the container filled with abrasive media. Our vibratory deburr equipment is a 30-inch x 72-inch tub unit. A variety of media and cycle time can be customized to achieve your specific part requirements.
PARTS WASHING
Your part needs may require special cleaning requirements. For example, interior engine parts must meet very stringent cleanliness requirements.
Flinchbaugh utilizes a custom spray, filtered and pressurized parts washing machine that is capable of achieving the most difficult industrial specifications. The size of our cleaning machine is 24”W x 36”L. Detergent, temperature, spray pressure and cycle times can be varied to achieve the results required. Oftentimes, cleanliness is validated and measured by an outside laboratory as a calculation using the total surface area of the part to be cleaned.
